Xero Shoes

Origin
Xero Shoes originated in the USA around 13 years ago, by a husband and wife team that were inspired by the book 'Born to Run'. After suffered multiple running injuries, Steven Sachen turned to barefoot running instead, which eliminated his injuries and he wanted to go everywhere barefoot! As that wasn't a practical idea, he made sandals for himself and Lena his wife. Both of them loved their sandals and had lots of others interested in having their own pair, so they started their own website.

Sustainability
Xero shoes as a company are conscious of their environmental impact, they admit being "not perfect" and are aiming to do better. What they do is follow three sustainable principles:

• Build it to Last - they have a 5,000 mile sole warranty
  
• Use Less - As the shoes are thinner and therefore use less components, there is automatically less impact on the environment and they take less energy to produce.
• Source Better - The strive to use materials with environmental benefits, they create shoes that consist of Hemp, Coffee Carbon Fiber, and rPET.
