Socks 400 are made from our classic Ullfrotté Original 400 fabric. It’s a warm and comfortable sock that is suitable for wearing directly next to the foot or as a second layer.
Woolpower has made socks in Östersund, Jämtland since the beginning of the 1970s. We know how important it is to keep your feet warm and dry, both for work and pleasure. Wear Woolpower closest to your skin to make sure you really get the benefits of merino wool’s qualities. And, pull on several pairs of socks to increase insulation.
Wool is nature’s own functional fabric and so far, no man-made fibres have been able to replicate all the unique qualities of wool. The socks keep you warm when it’s cold out and cool when it’s warm. If you get wet the fabric keeps you dry as the wool can absorb up to 30 per cent of its own weight in moisture without even feeling damp. But if you really get wet, the socks keep you warm anyway. It’s because of a chemical process within the wool called absorption heat. Woolpower also has a self-cleaning effect. If you sweat the socks don’t smell bad which means you don’t need to wash them so often.
All Woolpower socks are manufactured entirely made in Östersund, from yarn to finished product on our specially designed sock machines.
The socks are made in Östersund, Jämtland, all the way from the yarn to the final packaged product.
We take our wool from merino sheep that graze in the Argentinian part of Patagonia and Uruguay, and it is mulesing free.
Wool keeps you warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s warm.
The fabric doesn’t smell bad if you sweat. Wool is self-cleaning and breaks down the bad-smelling bacteria from the skin. That’s why it doesn’t need to be washed so often.
Wool fibres can absorb up to 30 per cent of their own weight in moisture before even feeling damp.
Even if the material gets damp it continues to keep you warm anyway.
Woolpower socks can be washed at 60 degrees
Woolpower’s socks don’t itch and feel soft and comfortable against your skin.
Woolpower Ullfrotte Fabric
Woolpower is the go to product for the ProAdventure staff when it gets cold.
The terry-knit Ullfrotté Original 200 Base Layers are Woolpower’s thinnest undergarments
utilising their special Ullfrotté Original merino fabric.Every garment is made from different sizes of tubes, which means that there is the minimal amount of seams in each garment. This creates a garment that is more durable and with less chafing from seams.
The garments are designed to be worn next to the skin as a moisture wicking base layer. The terry loops and the overall loose knitting gives unique insulation compared to the fabric weight.
By wearing the 200g base layer closest to the body, you will benefit from all the best functions terry loop wool provides; insulation, perspiration transport and comfort.
The Woolpower Ullfrotté Original 200 Base Layers work in great combination with the Woolpower LITE range.
The thicker Woolpower Ullfrotté Original 400 garments are used as mid layers to increase insulation between the base layer and the wind and water resistant outer layer. They still feature the unique Woolpower Ullfrotté circular knit fabric with terry loops made from merino wool.
The mid layer garments are usually used at lower temperatures and lower activity levels.
The standard mid layer jackets are long in the back and in the cuffs, which also have thumb holes.
Woolpower started developing Ullfrotté in the 1970’s and it has been designed to wear closest to the body. It can also be worn together with the thinner Woolpower LITE underneath, or with the thicker Ullfrotté 400 g and 600 g on top. Modify your layers according to your activity level, thinner layers if you plan to move around a lot, and several thicker layers if you are going to be standing still.
To benefit from merino wool’s qualities, wear Woolpower directly against your skin. Wool is nature’s own functional fabric and so far, no man-made fibres have been able to replicate all the unique qualities of wool. The fabric doesn’t smell bad if you sweat, for example. What’s more, it keeps you dry as the wool can absorb up to 30 per cent of its own weight in moisture without even feeling damp. But if you really get wet, the undergarment keeps you warm anyway. It’s because of a chemical process within the wool called absorption heat.
Ullfrotté Original can be washed at 60 degrees.
Woolpower Ullfrotté Original is circular knitted and therefore has very few seams that can chafe. Seams are always the weakest link in a garment, so our clothes are very durable. The cuffs are elasticated and also knitted into the fabric.
The clothes are manufactured entirely in Östersund, Jämtland from the yarn to the finished product. Our seamstresses sew an entire garment from start to end and move with it between the machines. When they are satisfied with the result, they sew their own nametag into the garment. That’s why you always know who has sewn your Woolpower undergarment.
Every garment is made from different sizes of tubes, which means that there is the minimal amount of seams in each garment. This creates a garment that is more durable and with less chafing from seams.
